Hi,

From time to time interesting vintage computer items come up on Trade Me. Use this forum to discuss what's there.

Sellers and potential buyers with a genuine interest in vintage computers are also welcome to use this space. It allows less restrictive communication than Trade Me's question/answer format allows. Just put the URL to the forum in your Trade Me entry, and register on these forums site if you're not a member already.

Posting complaints about people

Postby tezza on Mon Apr 09, 2012 3:26 pm

There have been a few choice words on the forums recently regarding TradeMe traders. As these have come up I've looked at them with an editorial eye and decided to let them stay. Identifiying dubious practices (name and shame) can help our hobby and I always give people the right of reply, which can clarify misunderstandings.

That said, I want to remind everyone that potenital VC Trade Me customers and traders all visit here. Our posts don't just go to us..they are public. With that in mind, think carefully about what you post about people. None of the posts yet have expressly said anyone is a liar or a crook but some have wandered close. If you feel someone's dubious practices should come to public attention check defamation laws before posting and be sure what you say is completely factual (and can be defended in court if necessary). Also, consider that as the owner of the forum (and so a third party to what's published) I have the potential to be affected by what you post. With that in mind I may exercise editorial control if I feel it's necessary.
