Great job, looks really nice.

Thanks Joe,

If I had to grade myself I'd only give myself a B. I used conventional solder whereas it would have been better to use solder paste I'm sure. The length of the new caps was greater than the diameter of the old caps so they only just fitted on the solder pads. If you look closely you'll see they don't quite line up perfectly. It was hard to get them to stay in place when soldering.

Still, a good first step.

Nice work :)

Solder paste and a soldering iron tip is my favorite way to do SMD's. Especially for large chips - it feels like cheating!

I just get a SE/30 with SimasiMac problem.
I think that after some cleaning, especially if i doesn't solve the problem, I will replace the capacitors.
Can you tell me what kind of capacitors you used? May be where you ordered them.
Thanks.

It's such a long time ago, I've forgotten Patrick. The information is out there though. See
https://wiki.68kmla.org/Capacitor_Replacement

I imported them from one of the electronic import firms. Might have been Farnell Electronics.

Thank you for your answer Tezza.
I ordered this from Reichelt in Germany:
And axial capacitors.
I was not sure about the size of the SMD capacitors. I hope that they will fit perfectly.
