Sega SC 3000H Keyboard Membrane

Postby slaanesh on Wed Jan 27, 2021 1:27 pm

Hi,
Just restored a Sega SC-3000H; one cap had *just* started leaking, so I did them all. The Z80 CPU was also defunct as it wouldn't boot. Also replaced the 7805 regulator with a Traco !-2450, as it's voltage was about 0.2V under.
Now she boots wonderfully!

Unfortunately the keyboard membrane has a few broken traces. Does anyone (in NZ, Australia...World?) have replacements for these? I'm going to try repairing this with silver conductive paint. But I'd prefer to get a new one as well.

Can't find anything about replacement membranes so I started repairing mine using silver conductive paint.
I carefully scratched away the very thin plastic sheet immediately before and after the broken trace and then very carefully paint a silver line to replace what was there.
You have to be super careful as the actual traces are extremely thin.
And it works! Keyboard now functioning correctly!

I'd still prefer a new membrane but at least I have it working now.
