next thing i need to sort is the metal shields in the cases as they have seen some dampness... so i tried rust remover chemicals... and although they did work after some time they take a lot of time to do this way.. and after some searching and internet trolling i have decided on electrolysis.. and after my sad 2 day chemical trial i must say 12 hours in electrolysis is amazing... and it's safe as well no bad chemicals etc and cheap as well...

these are the pictures from after electrolysis.. the yellow is what is called rust bloom.. and is just a scum that washes off with warm water and i used a non-scratch pot pad and nylon brush.

Well it had to happen... the wife got covid-19 from her boss on Friday she tested positive. so i have been playing with rust removal with electrolysis.. the next ting when the anodes arrive is to setup a nickel plating tank ... I'm thinking i will bake a separate blog in repairs for rust removal and electroplating?? as it may take away from this one... more to de-rust lol... well thats it for now.. when i re-plate the shields i will finish this off.. stay well guys..

well with the weather the way it is and waiting for the nickel rods to arrive i went to cleaning up the 808 keyboard and keys.. i need to find an enter key for the keyboard but maybe an old AT L shaped key would fit... will need to have a look at my keyboard stash.. i stripped the keyboard down some months back as i needed to see if i could get some key plungers or print some .. and thanks to Philip in Christchurch he re-worked the SVI one on Thingiverse. that is the orange one you will see in the pictures.. the first thig i did was to fix the led's on the top of the keyboard as they have been repaired before but i have attached them more solid as they were just soldered on the top and that was it.. after that i cleaned the board and rubber key pads.. then started to re-assemble the unit..

re-assembling the key plungers and keys.. you have to make sure the little wire clips are the right way around.. but they come out to turn around if needed.. the hardest part was holding the spring and key in place while putting the plunger in the right way around as it has 2 sliders it needs to go into.
