Y2K Bug hit this forum New Years - 2013

Postby machinecoder on Tue Jan 01, 2013 1:23 pm

I tried to post a reply last night, it seemed the Y2K bug finally arrived  arrived a bit late though, 2013 ,there was an error message instead of a forum.

Maybe the Unix time bomb went off, I knew it was going to be the end of the world as we know it :|

People still running BASIC V1.2 or most other 8bit computer's wont be effected as they dont have real time clocks, dam hard to find a good 8 bit internet explorer but.

Wasnt me who pushed the button

I suspect the bug was probably a bit dumber than that.

I can only guess without seeing the circumstances, but it's probably a coding assumption gone wrong.

My guess would be... Were you posting a reply to a message less than 24 hours old, but crossing a year boundary? I'll bet someone is assuming the current year.
"dsakey" on trademe. Apple II's are my thing.

Naa..even simpler again. My monthly bandwidth cap (9 GB/month) was reached on the 31st within about 10 hours of being reset again on the 1st. When that happens the site just closes down unfortunately!

It did say "bandwidth cap was reached"

Still deep down I think it was really the Y2K bug
