Auckland Library books

Postby LilJoe on Tue Dec 23, 2014 9:57 pm

Several months back I ordered a couple books for my local library they have since arrived and been read.

Commodore : a company on the edge
By Brian Bagnall
Great read, very informative, I really learned a lot. Takes you in to the heart of Commodore. There were quite a few interviews form ex commodore employees, Chuck Peddle, Kit Spencer and Bob Yannes to name a few

8.5/10

The future was here : the Commodore Amiga
By Jimmy Maher
Not bad, but at times very confusing. The book is about how an Amiga works, what the custom chips do and looks at the software available for it. The author writes at a very sophisticated level that is at times very hard to understand.

7/10

So you can go pick them up at your local library for free, well kinda
There are only 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don't.Image
If at first you don't succeed; call it version 1.0

What revision of On The Edge is that one?

I bought a copy of that book from Amazon, enjoyed it greatly, got right up to the 128 era then the book spontaneously ends with 'Coming Summer 2013: The Amiga Years'. Brian Bagnall never finished the second book. Allegedly the earlier revision was a bit less concise but covered both eras.
Just the local Commodore hobo and middle-aged PC hoarder.
eisa on Trademe. A lasting reminder of a Compaq fetish when I was younger.
