Elite's Bluetooth Spectrum...

Postby kevman3d on Sun Jan 05, 2014 11:35 am

I'm impressed to see that Elite Systems are still in business (running since 1984). They released some pretty great games over that era, and seems they're still making games (mobile these days, as you'd expect).

Interestingly, they are looking at producing a Bluetooth "ZX Spectrum" keyboard device, and not only operate as a ZX Spectrum with their mobile ZX game releases but as a bluetooth keyboard itself if needed. If you're curious:

Cool !!! something tells me it will be a modest hit !

its interesting that they have just last year released the sequel to the Manic Miner trilogy

interesting http://matthewsmith.elite-systems.co.uk/?p=158 Willy's Great Adventure is here, finally...

Matthew Smith here. I have all my teeth and have never written a game for the zx spectrum

Disclaimer: Matthew Smith of NZVCF in no way bears any resemblance to the Matthew Smith of Manic Miner fame
Mathew Smith of NZVCF has all his teeth, has never written any software for a Spectrum and does not
have the eyes that look like this

Primarily it seems to be aimed at the Apple products to play Elite's mobile versions of Speccy games. A nice way to expand that "emulation" experience and give it some physicality... And of course, iPad and iPhone users tend to buy all kinds of stuff for their devices.

I'm not sure how exciting it would be as a general PC/Mac keyboard itself. Its going to have to also be linked to an emulator to make the most of it.

They're also selling limited edition signed posters of Manic Miner on their website... Mounted on board too - that's a nice touch... I hate pinning posters to the wall that start to droop over time...
