Commodore sd card drives

I don't really understand how these work but have the feeling that you have to use them with some sort of emulator. Am I on the right track?

You load up the SDcard with disk images.

Then they plug into a real C64, and the device emulates a commodore floppy drive.
"dsakey" on trademe. Apple II's are my thing.

I have purchased several items from Techexpress and their service has been really good. Once they sent me the wrong cable and replaced it quickly and didn't want the original cable back.

Have used SD Card loaders on zx spectrums and also have them for apple IIe and an amstrad 464 - make life a lot easier. The one for the C64 is slightly cheaper from the UK and there are even cheaper versions around for about 30 pound: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SD2IEC-Commodore-Disk-Drive-Emulator-SD-Card-Reader-C64-Vic20/253254057149?_trkparms=aid%3D888007%26algo%3DDISC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D49131%26meid%3D4e9d7a9994c44c65aa9d63a475b49606%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26sd%3D272921124329&_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982
