Hi All,

I'm a long-time retro enthusiast from Sydney, Australia.
Worked at Dick Smith York street store during 82-85, the "glory days" of the Exidy Sorcerer, System-80, VZ200/300 and so on.

My main interests are hardware design and FPGA emulation of old systems.

Have a reasonable sized collection of retro machines at the moment, including:

OSI: Superboard II
Tandy: M1,M3,M4,M4P, MC10, COCO2, COCO3
Apple: //e, IIgs (ROM1 and ROM3), //c, //c+
Commodore: C128, Amiga 500,1200
BBC: 128K
MicroBee: 16k, PC85, Premium128K, 256TC, Premium+
Various bits of expansion hardware/software for all of the above.
...and a few others that don't immediately come to mind.

Great to see you here Leslie,

There are a few lurking on the board who own Dick Smith machines, me being among them of course.

To others on the board, Leslie's insights on Dick Smith operations during the time of these classic machines were very useful for filling in those little details documented in the System 80 website. He's also very knowledgeable on the inner workings of the machine.

I sold about half a dozen or so.
Don't remember DSE making any effort whatsoever to promote the machine, it was simply relegated to the kit section.
Perhaps they thought it would take interest away from their other machines? I wasn't privy to any of the politics I'm afraid.

At one point I offered to build one for a display unit, but the store manager wasn't interested at all

You may be aware that there is an effort currently underway to reproduce the Super-80 PCB?
